Hello hello, I know you're not really talking about him recently but truthfully i feel like you understand Dabi's personality the most. So i wanted to ask what MBTI you think he relates to the most?
So, as per usual, the weekend was a bit busy with IRL stuff. But now I'm finally able to answer this!
First off, thank you SO MUCH, it really means a lot to me that you feel I understand him the most. That's very high praise because there are some truly amazing writers and meta-analyzers on here that also have amazing takes on Dabi and his personality.
Also, PLEASE talk to me about Dabi! I still love him so so much, I'll never get tired of answering asks about him, truly. I know I haven't written for him recently, but I don't love him any less.
Okay, back to your question...
So I've looked at this a few different ways... First, I went through and took the personality test as "Dabi"; i.e., I answered the questions the way that I think HE would answer them (this is different from how others may perceive him, btw). I used the test on www.16personalities.com, and the result that I ("Dabi") got was INTP, i.e., the Logician. I also looked at what was listed for him under the personality database website, which was ISFP, the Adventurer. Finally, I simply read up on what each of the categories were on Wikipedia, and thought about it. From what I understand and through my observations of him, I would label him as INFP, the Mediator.
Below the cut I'll show the personality test results, and discuss them by comparing them to the other results. Beware though, both anime and manga spoilers will be present because I use some specific examples to explain the results.
So, from the 16personalities test, here is what Dabi got:
Here's the rest of the descriptors for INTP-T:
I think for the most part this is accurate for him, at least for how he perceives himself. But I think there are going to be some key differences between how he sees himself and how we, as observers, see him.
Let's start...
Introversion:
We definitely can't deny that he's introverted, and that's clear across all three personality types that were assigned to him. He's never meshed well with others, especially on first meetings, thanks to his abrasive personality and very thick walls. This introvertedness may not seem as obvious when one thinks about how badly he wants the attention of his family, and his willingness to go public with his past, etc. But think of those moments... of him recording himself, of him dancing in front of Enji as he revealed himself... think of those things as a performance. Think introverted theater kid. And even then, it wasn't exactly for the purpose of the public's attention, but for his father's attention. His broadcast? Pre-recorded, not live. His face-off with his dad? He didn't give a shit that others were there and watching; his focus narrowed like a singularity; it was only him and his father in that moment.
Another helpful thing to keep in mind is that Introversion doesn't mean you don't want to be around others; it just means that you recharge best when you are by yourself. Dabi still definitely wants to be seen by his loved ones, but I think he is naturally an introverted person in that isolation is something he enjoys as a way to rest and rejuvenate himself. I see him finding most people exhausting to be around.
Intuitive:
This was the one of the portions that differed from his MBTI on the personality database, and I actually agree with the test result more. I see Sensing/Observation as "the scientist" and Intuition as "the philosopher," and I definitely feel that Dabi is more Philosopher than Scientist. Whereas Sensing/Observation is more literal, in the now, and taking things at face value, Intuition is not. That's not to say that Dabi doesn't observe; he absolutely does. But he does so through the lens of his ideals and how all of these individual pieces fit together into his belief system.
Wikipedia describes Intuitive as "imagining the possibilities of how things could be; notice the big picture, see how everything connects; enjoy ideas and concepts for their own sake, and likes to describe things in a figurative, poetic way." While I don't necessarily see him as figurative or poetic, I do think he's a bit of an idealist. He's someone who looks at the bigger picture, who's able to extrapolate a lot of information through observation, more so than what's immediately in front of him. He's a bit of a creative genius in that way, and it's shown by how quickly he was able to develop his quirk through watching his father's battles, and later with his brother, with practically zero practice. Additionally, he's a dreamer, always wanting more for himself, even when he was young, which was why his inability to meet his father's standards was such a huge blow to him. He could see the big picture of heroism and what it meant to society, his family, and to his father (and by proxy to himself) and to not be able to see himself as a part of that picture was incredibly damaging for him. Now, this intuition isn't necessarily something he's utilized for positive gains, at least not positive for others; his focus is very selfish/self-centered in this regard. But he's still able to idealize, imagine, and extrapolate. I also think he'd enjoy deep conversations about morals and hypotheticals, and enjoy playing devil's advocate quite often. He never takes things at face-value, always looking at what's underneath.
Thinking:
This was an interesting one, and the one that I think I wouldn't exactly agree with as an observer of his character. BUT, I think Dabi would believe that he's more thinking than feeling. We know that he's incredibly ruled by his emotions in his decision-making; and I think he embraces those emotions a bit more openly once his big reveal finally happens and he's able to fully pursue his conflict with his father (and by proxy his brother). But, I think Dabi fancies himself as someone who thinks 'logically,' who is smart and isn't swayed by the hearts of others. We see this in how he keeps others at arm's length; at how he keeps a level head during the summer training camp arc, etc. But, at the same time, later on, we see more of his vulnerable side. His strangely kind gesture and words towards Toga was spurred by his care for her. His reaction to Twice's death heavily impacted how he battled Hawks. And of course, we see how emotional he really is with regards to his family.
Now granted, he would most definitely put a 'logical' decision that will get him the result he wants over someone else's feelings, in most cases. When it gets down to it, his feelings will take priority over others' feelings, 9 times out of 10. But that doesn't mean he's a Thinking type; that just means he's selfish, and that if anyone's feelings are going to be listened to, it'll be his own. This doesn't surprise me considering his history of being emotionally neglected, let alone all of the other things that happened to him. Typically, a Feeling type would have a strong sense of altruism for others because they can easier empathize with them... and I think a part of him does empathize with his league comrades, which was why he behaved the way he did with Twice and Toga. But I think overall for Dabi, his Feeling is turned more inward, as he's empathizing with himself. It's a form of self-preservation, a way for him to protect his damaged ego. It clouds his judgment in the sense that he thinks he's not emotional because he's not easily moved by others; and yet, he's very emotionally moved by himself and his own pain.
Perceiving/Prospecting:
This, along with introversion, was consistent across the board of all three methods I used to analyze Dabi. The definition alone from the test describes Dabi to a T; good at improvising and adapting; flexible noncomformist, valuing novelty over stability. Need I say more? Also, Wikipedia describes it as: prefer to leave your options open; see rules and deadlines as flexible; like to improvise; spontaneous...
By contrast, Judging is much more rigid/structured, which doesn't really fit Dabi at all. Judging is all about planning, organizing, staying on task and meeting deadlines... I think Dabi is far too ADHD for that (Shh, I'm not projecting, I swear!).
Just think of it this way: if Dabi had the perfect upbringing and never became a villain, what kind of job would you picture him having? Would he have a desk job, pushing papers and sitting through meetings, doing the 8-5 grind? Or would he have something a little more spontaneous, more flexible, something that would mentally (and likely physically) engage him?
I rest my case.
So, I'd say that there are two answers to your question. If you're really looking at what would Dabi identify himself as, I would say the test would be the most accurate: INTP. (he'd also really like the title of the Logician; it would totally stroke his ego!).
BUT, if you're looking for more what his "true" personality would be, I would say INFP.
Now, the irony of this is that I'm an INFP. Actually, I used to be an INFJ, and that's what I thought I was while writing most of this up. I retook the test earlier today because I was curious if my results had changed at all over the past few years, and apparently they did, and it just so happens to align with what I was assigning Dabi. This could either mean that me assigning INFP to Dabi is due to implicit bias, as I see a lot of myself in him and vice versa, and it's possible that the two have gotten muddled a bit. Alternatively, it could also mean that I'm able to write him so clearly because I understand his character and his personality in a very, well... personal way.
Anyway, I hope that helps! Let me know what you think and which MBTI type you think fits him best! 💕

Are we dealing with alchemists looking for The Philosopher's Stone?
(I will be referencing partially to the ARG, most importantly to the so called Klaus sheet that has german version on categories the OIAR team is using, and some light spoiler to The Magnus Archives, so beware).
We're four episodes in and cross-referencing each episode so far, there seems to be few things that connect most of them:
an orchestrator
a medium
an obsession
a transformation
Each episode so far mentions some type of third party being involved in the incident: Harriet Winstead mentions a "consultant" that was supposed to help her see Arthur, RedCanary mentions getting harrased by an anonymous stalker, Daria commissions Ink5oul for a tattoo, Dr Samuel Webber mentions seeing his dead wife "Maddie" who stops him from tampering with the transformation (could be a hallucination, but could also be somebody using his delirioum to impersonate her) and today we've got a mention of a "giftgiver" who gave The Violinist the Violin.
Additionally each incident mentions some type of specific medium the characters came into contact with: The Box, The Violin, The Ink (cross referenced in Klaus sheet from the ARG), The Garden (as in plants in the garden). The exception being the Harriet, but we don't know yet what "caused" ressurection of Arthur. This is important, because in TMA items and "mediums" weren't actually all that common, it was very often stressed that relics were medium for the fears to use directly (with people only doing their bidding), not to be handled by others as a medium.
Lastly each episode talks obsession and/or transformation and oh boy, let me tell you about bunch of guys historically obsessed with tranforming stuff through different mediums:

"It's not very suprising, alchemical symbols are everywhere throughout the podcast!" you might say. True, but let's take into consideration, what excactly is a goal of an alchemist? Well the answer is quite simple and there is actually three of them. The Three Goals of Alchemy are:
To turn base metals into noble ones
To discover the recipe for a Philosopher's Stone
To find the Elixir of Life that gives eternal youth and defies death
All of them refer to some type of recipie of method, so where are the recipies? Under our own noses. The recipies are the DPHW catalogue and the database Freddie is sending the incident reports to is an alchemical cookbook! Each entry is categorized something like that:
CAT$$$R&&#### - theme (specification) -/- subtheme [medium]
Some specifications:
$ - are a conbination of numbers 1, 2 and 3. They do not always appear in threes, sometimes it's just 3, sometimes 12 (as in 1 and 2) so forth. These has been widely theorized to be related to the The Tria Prima, a group of three materials which occupy a position of prominence in alchemy: Sulphur(🜍), Mercury(☿) and Salt(🜔) or as they are also characterized Soul, Mind and Body. If we assign each of them a number with 1 being Soul, 2 being Mind and 3 being body, they so far align with the main "components" of each incident or realms they deal in.
R - either appears or not, it was theorized this is a RANK and that previous files were simply misfiled by Sam, but to me it also could be REGIA as in Aqua Regia (🜆) where we are to assume the R was added to the previous element (Aqua (🜄) + Regia (R)). The meaning behind assigning some some incidents the rank of regia has yet to be explained though.
& - these are letters C, BC, B, AB, A and S signifying a rank (or rang in the Klaus sheet) . Lets ignore that S for a second, but they seem to be stages and half stages, well there can't possibly a concept of four stages in alchemy? Let me introduce you to the Magnum Opus (Great Work). Basically each alchemical project went through four stages: nigredo (black), albedo (white), citrinitas (yellow) and rubedo (red) with rubedo specifically signifying a great discovery was made and Magnum Opus was a success, but it does not necessairly mean an alchemical goal was reached.

To summarize, numbers one C-A signify stage of the project, with S, that appears once on mostly redacted cell in the Klaus sheet, signifying that not only the final stage was reached, but the project has been a success.
This could mean a finished Magnum Opus is out there, developed in the field of the Soul and related to the mysterous Mr. B.
# - these numbers are still a mystery, I do have some theories myself, but to summaries I think they are grades and some type of combination (I think it's either 9999, 0000 (as in all 10s) or perhaps 7777 (7 being the most important alchemical number)). Basically a specific combination could imply the specific discovery could be categorized as a Philosopher's Stone. What that could mean for the narrative? We will see, but I suspect it's an alchemical equivalent to an eldritch nuke in this universe.
Last thing to support my theory, the OIAR logo. The lion and the unicorn are obviously symbols for the United Kingdom, as this is a government office, and the words undearneath are "we will not falter" (probably reference to the paranormal incidents they deal with) the rest though?

Alchemical symbols for Salt, Mercucry and Sulphur are right there, all encompassed by an upside-down version of The Philosopher's Stone symbol; The Greatest Magnum Opus:

As to what the Magnum Opus are in TMAGP, each incident has an item associated with it, I noticed that the characters do not get corrupted by people directly this season, but through the use of items like ink, instruments, plants.

all your franky thoughts are soo adorable 🥺♥️ puts a smile on my face nod nod !!
if u wanna you can use this ask to spill wtv thoughts your having of him rn, messy rants or sweet rambles idm at all . . >_< 💌
AHHH ROSE HI!!!
I appreciate that sm 🥺 💕💕
In the spirit of your ask, sometimes I think about Franky's assigned MBTI personality type (that's a lie, I think about this a lot)
But Franky is an ESTP. I use this (and the Personality Database website) to find characters that have a similar personality or vibe as him, and also to help me find couples throughout media that reflect us. I'm an INFP.
This connects to you and Maui because, funny enough, this is how I found out that your Maui is also apparently an ESTP like Franky! Which is really funny to me bc it's almost like I can see Franky singing his own cover/version of your f/o's song "You're Welcome" with like changed lyrics to fit him (love that song btw, your guy is a fantastic singer)!
In relation to other Disney characters, even though this isn't really a "couple" per se, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast is also an ESTP, and Belle is an INFP like me. Sometimes I jokingly imagine us cosplaying/dressing up as Gaston and Belle for Halloween because of that.
I can see a very big Belle and Gaston vibe within me and Franky's relationship bc I started out not liking Franky AT ALL (before he proved me wrong <3) and yet, with how present he is in my life, it feels like he's obsessed with trying to impress me like Gaston with Belle. The only difference being that Franky, unlike Gaston, DOES actually care about my well-being and doesn't view me as some sort of trophy to be won, but he's just in love!
TYSM FOR THE ASK!! This one's been on my mind for a while!! 💕

Hey cas!! I wanted to ask you how to make the most out of notions (cuz its kinda complex app) + how to make notes omg im struggling w this YELPP😭😭
Hi !! I started using notion last year to try and organize my school life and still haven’t completely figured it all out, so I get what you mean with it being a little confusing 😭. I’ve been mostly using it as a planner, but just started writing notes on it over this summer break and am kind of loving it. I’ll include screenshots and stuff under the cut, but if you need more specific details or a tutorial for a database or something feel free to send another ask or dm!
My Notion Setup ⬇️⬇️
(Sorry if the formatting for pictures is weird, I’m still trying to figure out how to use this app 😵💫)
For Planning:
Here is my notion dashboard! It’s a little barebones compared to others that I’ve seen on Pinterest, but it works for me because if I include anything else my ADHD brain will get overwhelmed and won’t keep up with actually using and updating it.
I have two databases: one being used as an assignment tracker that sorts my assignments into To-Do, Overdue, and Done sections based on dates and the other has pages for my classes for the semester. (I just realized that I forgot the change the heading from Spring 2024 to Fall 2024, so please don’t mind that 😭) Along with the databases I have a simple to do list for things that I need to get done that aren’t assignment related.
You could also add a calendar view to the assignment database if you prefer seeing it in that format, I just choose not to because I use Google Calendar to see it in relation to my other plans for the day.
I don’t use the class pages for much because I preferred writing my notes in either Goodnotes or a physical notebook last semester, but I’ll probably start using them more because I like using notion to keep track of all of my code snippets and stuff along those lines that are easier to type than write out. It was also pretty helpful last semester for creating drafts and outlines for essays.
For Note-taking:
Here are two examples of pages that could go in the classes database if you prefer to take notes digitally. I like to use databases to create pages to take notes in for each chapter/section of the textbook or material for the class.
My favorite way of viewing it is the board view because I like having my progress visualized (and clicking and dragging chapters to the “Done” section is satisfying), but the table view is also nice if you want to include more details such as quiz scores or dates.
Here are some photos of my notes for a single chapter. I use section headers to separate the actual notes from other stuff like chapter-specific exercises or links, and use toggle headers for sub-section notes to make it less cluttered. Other than the formatting it’s nothing too fancy, my typed notes are similar to how you would take notes in any other software like GoogleDocs or Word.

Atlantis Expedition - Science Division: Chief Science Officer
So I've gone through all of my proposed headcanons on how the Science Division would break down into different departments, the roles of each departments, and the personnel composition (original post here, which contains links to posts on individual departments). But what is a division without its division leader? Thus, a post on the Chief Science Officer (AKA Rodney McKay).
Below is a brief list, in the same style as the department posts, which I will articulate further under the read-more:
> Head: Rodney McKay, Radek Zelenka (extra-canonical) > Contains: 1 person > Function: Implements department policies, decides upon division and department priorities, disseminates tasks according to expedition needs, reviews employee performances, manages employment of each department, secures and approves all procurement requirements for operations, reviews ethical and legal boundaries on research and resource requests, prepares documentation for review on research progress and results, estimates research project requirements and demands, gives/receives recommendations and feedback to expedition leader and military commander according to mission parameters > Examples of function: Hiring and firing of employees, dispute arbitration between employees, disciplinary measures, creating purchase orders for equipment and department supplies, reviewing research proposals and giving feedback on proposals > Personnel quantity: 1 person > A/N: Technically speaking, the department heads fall under this "department" as sub-administrators (and produce the paperwork that will give Rodney headaches)
Radek being the CSO is part of the Legacy book series, which is a pseduo season six (I don't listen to it, for various reasons), but he's mentioned here as a nod to the books.
As for that big block of text about a CSO's function, it helps to separate things into a few categories. Below is that, with commentary:
> IOA/SGC requirements » Prepares documentation for review on research progress and results » Reviews ethical and legal boundaries on research and resource requests » Maintains documentation of projects for auditing purposes ⇛ Such as project results, allocation and defense thereof of resources, pertinent stopping and starting points » Maintains documentation of division personnel usage and other important events ⇛ Such as field assignments, project assignments, etc » Maintains documentation of field science research ⇛ Such as first contact missions, cultural research, etc > Expedition administration » Gives/receives recommendations and feedback to expedition leader according to mission parameters ⇛ Such as resource allocation in terms of division personnel, technology, and physical resources (i.e. consumable lab resources, such as testing equipment, reagents, medical resources, etc) > Military relations » Gives military commander feedback and advice on mixed-context situations ⇛ Such as situations when expedition leader is unable to perform duties, or when needing to defend critical components, spaces, or personnel ⟹ i.e. When personally in the field (AR-1, other field assignments), attacks on Atlantis, non-military critical situations on Atlantis » Gives assessments on non-expedition personnel in regards to permissions on division resources ⇛ i.e. lab access, database access, critical systems access, etc ⇛ Functionally makes the CSO a super-user and systems administrator of the digital architecture that comprise the expedition ⟹ The head administrator and military commander will have their own logins with similar, but not identical, privileges > Division administration » Implements department policies ⇛ Such as safety protocols, proposal formats, project documentation formats, etc » Decides upon division and department priorities ⇛ Based upon IOA/SGC, expedition leader, and military commander priorities (in that order, unless under a military context) » Disseminates tasks according to expedition needs ⇛ May contain separate categories of priorities, according to the needs of varying timelines (i.e. long term, short term, etc) » Reviews employee performances ⇛ Ideally according to a rubric of IOA/SGC requirements, department policies, and expedition needs ⇛ Can mark an employee for a review period, limit access based on negative incidents, recommend merit-based pay increases and pay bonuses, etc » Manages employment of each department ⇛ Hiring, firing, inter-department reassignments » Estimates research project requirements ⇛ Based upon proposals submitted, expedition mission parameters, resources available for allocation, and IOA/SGC requirements » Secures and approves all procurement requirements for operations ⇛ Creates, reviews, and submits documentation to expedition head ⇛ Items such as equipment (i.e. computers), consumable materials (i.e. pens, cotton swabs), and miscellaneous (i.e. lab coats, uniforms, chocolate for morale)
These main categories, as you can see, are IOA/SGC requirements of the CSO, expedition administration, military relations, and division administration. They are, to the best of my assumptions, listed in order of importance - division administration is necessarily at the bottom because the CSO, ideally, ought to be able to trust the department heads to make sure the division runs well. The main job of the CSO is to liase between the division and the overlords people who make the expedition run.
A lot of this ends up rather convoluted due to competing priorities. The IOA pays the expeditions bills and supports its somewhat dubious legality on the international stage, but the SGC does as well, and to boot is also the group that creates and maintains the supplies and supply lines (see: the Daedalus, primarily, and also the Apollo). As this is a civilian expedition, more weight will be put on the CSO than the Military Officer for a return on investment.
What this results in is a lot of paperwork. Every employee, petri dish, and scribble on a whiteboard must be recorded, accounted for, and justified. This would then be forwarded to the expedition leader, who collates it nicely and gives it to the SGC and IOA for a general accounting, but it's up to the CSO to prepare this documentation.
Accordingly, this means that if there's a request from either side (top-down or bottom-up), the CSO must process the paperwork for that. Requests to perform experiments, usage of employees on things like field assignments, requests for materials to perform the experiments within adequate parameters are the work du jour. And, crucially, it must be legal (as much as one can with something like a Stargate program, at any rate). There's a lot more wiggle room for the expedition, given its project background, but not very much with the introduction of international oversight.
In a practical, daily sense, department requests for experiment/research and expedition leader and military commander requests for the same or for personnel must be balanced by the CSO. If, say, Carson Beckett wants to work with the Life Sciences department to develop a hydrogel infused with Pegasus plant extracts for IFAK use that requires many iterations of testing but would then require less supplies procured from the SGC, and Elizabeth Weir wants Carson Beckett to join an away team to help some recently-culled village with their injuries or a persistent illness that had left them originally vulnerable to a culling, Rodney McKay will be the one to weigh in on priorities for the division and devise a compromise on his employee's time based upon what can be done and what ought to be done. (Elizabeth will likely already think of this conundrum, but as she was not the only expedition leader, the ability to say no is a critical tool in Rodney's arsenal for properly fulfilling his duties.)
Likewise, the CSO has obligations to the military contingent of the expedition. While the Wraith were not an expected enemy, the SGC probably assumed something of the Goa'uld caliber was statistically likely, and thus the CSO is there to also offer technical advice to the military commander. This is important because nobody had any confirmation on what they would find regarding Atlantis, only that the Ancients had abandoned their city and didn't seem to pack much up with them. Mixed-context situations like a technical emergency on Atlantis, or field missions, will require CSO input on technological expertise and personnel assignments from the Science Division.
A working relationship with the military commander will also mean some back and forth, particularly for instances of assessing who ought to have access to critical systems, and whether such previously-given permissions ought to be revoked. Teyla, the Athosians, and Ronon are popular examples, but also situations like Doppelganger where members of the expedition might be compromised and require a change, however temporary or permanent, in security.
In order for the CSO to assist in maintaining expedition security, being a super-user and systems administrator is a pre-requisite of the position. This means such things as inherent back-door access to all expedition systems, ability to manage user login profiles for all systems, screening of technologies that are inputted as peripherals or adoptions of infrastructure, and the design of the infrastructure systems that make up the overall architecture. As the military commander would be in charge of the physical security of the expedition, the CSO would be in charge of its digital security.
Management of the division itself rests upon the above listed duties, and will influence how the division and its various departments are handled. This is very much a daily, intensive part of the job, but if things with the departments are set up well, typically they would be the least worrisome of the duties.
Based upon the various institutional and situational demands upon the expedition, personnel movement and research projects will be delegated accordingly, with the CSO creating the division policies on things like research parameters, experiment ethics, and the minutiae of funding and resource allocations.
Long-term projects, such as the inherent reasons why the expedition exists at all (figuring out Atlantis and developing technologies and knowledge bases from the information they prise from Atlantis), will generally receive priority outside of some form of emergency, and will get the most resources. Short-term projects, which might run for a few months or a year at a time of active experimentation, are dependent upon spare resources, time, and personnel that aren't already assigned to work of a higher priority.
For example, documenting the plants of a particular planet in the Pegasus galaxy would rank lower than decoding and documenting extant examples of Wraith language, based upon the multiple variables of military commander demands on the safety of the expedition, diplomatic demands from the expedition leader for the safety of the expedition, and if there are similar plants already being studied that were cultivated from other planets.
An inherent part of the management of a division is the personnel, which includes performance reviews, hiring of employees, firing of employees, disciplining of employees (if the department head requires CSO assistance or it is the department head which requires disciplining), and re-assignment of employees based upon expedition or other needs. Part of the personnel is the work the personnel do, which wraps back around to paperwork - if someone wants to do research on attempting to duplicate a particular alloy, then those materials need to be purchased or otherwise required, which means the CSO must fill out all the purchase request forms and other pertinent documentation (even if it only amounts to "found on the ground because AR-1 crashed the Wraith Dart, put alloy samples into backpack").
I imagine a CSO in this sort of position would probably be running a rough calculation in the background of how many cups of coffee to substitute for hours of sleep, because there will not be a lot of sleep to be had, even without all the various emergencies happening because Atlantis is Atlantis. A little bit of stress-induced yelling from time to time is to be expected, I think.
Total Overall Science Division Personnel
> Chief Science Officer: 1 > Medical Department: 23 > Life Sciences: 13 > Field Sciences: 12 > Applied Sciences: 16 > Total total: 65
Due to the revisions made in some of the department headcanon posts, the personnel estimations rose from the original post's 58 to the current 65, a difference of 7 people and also a nice, easy to calculate number. If we keep to the assumption of 200 expedition members, this would make for 135 leftover for the rest of the expedition, and the Science Division at 32.5% of the expedition.
A CMO post will be written and posted at some point, as I forgot about it, and additionally canonical character headcanon posts will also be posted at some point in the future in an undetermined order. After this will be headcanons on the Military Division, Gate Teams, and the Expedition Leader/Civilian Division (currently undecided what that will be).

does anyone have experience confronting their employer about your responsibilities getting wildly out of sync with your job title? my title is supply chain analyst but more than 50% of my work is not supply chain related at all anymore. I'm being treated mostly as a data analyst. data analyst salaries are 10% higher than supply chain analysts salaries in my area plus there are many more job opportunities for data analysts. I want a title change.
also does anyone have experience writing a resume when your responsibilities are not related to your title? should I just say I'm a data analyst because that's the work I'm doing or is there some special section I can add noting secondary work as an unofficial data analyst. there is other shit I do very often too that is barely related to either role.
anyone who has been following me for a while is gonna think I'm sooo late to this realization but it's getting pretty clear to me that my workplace is not going to stop pushing me into roles that I'm not appropriately compensated for, and because these roles are not official I will never receive any support, even when I explicitly request it. I have already been denied support multiple times.
this isn't just random people asking me to do one-time odd jobs either. our COO, CFO, and multiple directors ask me directly to do shit like investigate errors in our website and its tools to uncover what is causing data to display incorrectly. this is to shift labor off our web dev team and onto me, why us paid way less than a developer. I do NOT know ANY programming, I just know the database. this has happened five or six times now.
I also manage customer issues directly with the customers because our sales team does not appropriately train anyone in their department. I create orders for them too because they can not be trusted to enter them (not because they're untrained, but because they were not entering these intentionally). I provide records and reporting for accounting audits. I build weird calculators and generators in Excel for every department except two (IT and web dev) because those two can't justify devoting time to those projects and integrating them into our site. I create extremely weird queries to trace information that out database does not track appropriately (and this will never be fixed).
there are zero docs for anything I do except the ones I personally wrote, and only very limited notes scattered around. I was never trained and only picked sql and stuff up cause when I was a buyer digging into data helped me solve problems more efficiently. I have been begging web dev to tell me when they update anything because they keep breaking extremely serious tools but they have been ghosting me entirely. literally all they have to do is CC me on update emails but they won't do it.
also there isn't anyone else in the company who is proficient in sql and stuff (outside dev, and they're miles above me) to back me up so if I'm overloaded or need other help I'm shit out of luck. this makes taking PTO a fucking nightmare too because I'm always in the middle of helping someone out of a fucking fire and everyone does that shit where they say I can take PTO any time I want without worrying but then constantly assign me with critical tasks and demand results asap.
It is beyond time for me to be realistic about this job and what I want to do with myself 40 hours a week until I die, so I need to start working toward either making my current situation more tolerable or going elsewhere.

( jayden revri, 24, cis man, he/him ) — Look who it is! If you take a look at our database, you’ll find that AIDAN SINGH is a SECURITY ESCORT that works in SECTOR 1. According to the file, they’re a mutant with the power of WEATHER MANIPULATION. That must be why they’re CLEVER and GUARDED. If you ask me, they remind me of an arm reaching out to protect someone, sitting on the rooftop at dawn, warm hugs to welcome family and friends home. They are affiliated with THE MUTANTS’ SOCIETY. — beloved and haunted by spirit
basic information:
character name: aidan rohan singh
nickname (s): a (like the letter), dan, danny
face claim: jayden revri
mutation status: gen ii
birthday: june 25th
sexuality: pansexual panromantic
moral alignment: chaotic good
occupation: security escort
work sector: sector one
affiliation: the mutants’ society
3 positive traits: clever, devoted & warmhearted
3 negative traits: hot-tempered, guarded, & stubborn
biography (optional): coming soon!
questionnaire:
how do they feel about living in sol city? have they always lived there or did they travel from another settlement? aidan has lived in sol city for his whole life! he does know that there are definitely a fair amount of problems within the city and certainly wishes to help improve things or do something to create positive change. then there’s always the classic allure of adventure, seeing what some of the wider world has to offer. that being said, home can be where the heart is - and there will always be a soft spot in aidan’s heart for sol city.
do they trust the council's leadership? why or why not? to put it simply, aidan tentatively trusts them. he wants to believe in them, to have hope they will right any wrongs or at least not screw things up further. he can only imagine how much pressure is on their shoulders yet he unfortunately would not be surprised if things achieved new, never-before-seen levels of fucked up.
if they chose their sector and profession, why did they make that choice? if they didn't, why not? were they happy with their assignment or not? yes, aidan chose both and he remains happy with his decision to this day. he did feel a calling towards a few different ideas - all of them related to aiding people or protection in some fashion - but landed on security escort in large part thanks to the capabilities of his mutation and the various applications that could be useful either on an ordinary day or under special circumstances.
what's one object that they always keep on their person? a small, golden heart pin that he either keeps pinned to a shirt or jacket collar or sleeve. it was a gift from his mother, a literal homage to his heart of gold as well as her encouragement to not be afraid to wear it on his sleeve while also treating it with care.
(mutant only section)
what is your character's ability (or abilities)? weather manipulation
are they gen i or gen ii? gen ii
what can your character do? what are their strengths? to be written!! keep checking back! i’ll get this up as soon as possible!
what can't they do? what are their weaknesses? first and foremost, aidan does require an atmosphere as a medium to make things happen. no atmosphere, no weather manipulation. second, the weather can definitely be tied to his emotions. he’s been working on it and it’s decreased bit by bit as he gets older, gets a little more in tune with his emotions and feelings and how to manage them if necessary yet there are still moments where things get overwhelming and whoops, there’s a downpour. third is generating certain events can be taxing physically and he can usually only do one at a time. it helps if he has atmospheric conditions to build off of, but if he’s working on something from scratch then it can take a lot of energy and focus, leading to headaches or fainting as well as a mild generally unwell feeling in the days that follow if he overextended himself.
is there anything else you'd like to specify about them? when it comes to his physical mutation, he has a natural light blue streak of hair. it’s nothing that a box of hair dye can’t cover up whenever aidan has the energy and time to mess with it.

( manu bennett/ azog the defiler, 53, cis man, he/him ) — Look who it is! If you take a look at our database, you’ll find that ALEXANDER DE PAZ is a a BOUNCER that works in SECTOR 6. According to the file, they’re a mutant with the power of ORC PHYSIOLOGY. That must be why they’re DOMINANT and TEMPERAMENTAL. If you ask me, they remind me of chalk white knuckles buried in blood-matted fur, a low growl caught in the back of a throat, and a protective streak written in blood. They are affiliated with NOBODY.
basic information:
character name: Alexander de Paz
nickname (s): Xander
face claim: Manu Bennett
mutation status: Gen I mutant
birthday: Unknown; parents celebrated it on April 4 as that's when they found him.
sexuality: Heterosexual
moral alignment: Undecided
occupation: Bouncer @ The Bearded Lady
work sector: 6
affiliation: None
3 positive traits: Dominant, bold, decisive
3 negative traits: Temperamental, confrontational, impatient
biography (optional):
tw: child abandonment
The de Paz's found Xander abandoned in the wastelands. This was shortly after armageddon, and he was a chalky, maggoty looking little baby with a stone cold expression on his face in spite of his abandonment. They thought he was just the cutest lil guy! He was the impetus for their relationship becoming a lifelong thing, and they decided almost immediately that they wanted a huge and perfect mutant family.
After Xander, a whole brood of mutant children followed. Xander naturally fell into his role as a leader, being the oldest brother. He might not be related by blood, but he was family nonetheless. He was a vicious, violent child with a mean streak, but he was unendingly loyal to his family.
His baby sister Xiomara was born last of all, with a considerable gap between Xio and the rest of them - she was an accident when their parents were older, but a happy accident. She became everyone's baby, really, and Xander doted on her like the rest of them. He even let her name his mutant wolf beast companion thing - which in hindsight was stupid, because she was still a child and now he has a beast called Meatball. But what, he's gonna say NO to his baby sister? :/
Things fell apart when both parents died in quick succession. For a time Xander became the de facto leader of the clan. And then one of the middle siblings told Xander Xio had died (which she had not. The sibling just said this because he discovered Xio had taken their mother's appearance, and she was dead to THEM due to this disrespect. Xander's literal ass took this at face value and middle sibling rolled with it).
Things had been slightly falling apart before, and Xio's 'death' didn't help. In the end Xander took off with Meatball, feeling like a failure for being unable to rally his family. Insert warlord of the wastes life for a few months here. He then learned an unfortunate thing about his mutation: he's very, very virile. And he has left a whole string of illegitimate children in his wake. He learned this when one particularly angry orc daughter hunted him down and tried to kill him. That's when he got found by scavengers from Sol City, and brought in for recuperation! That's why he's here now.
questionnaire:
how do they feel about living in sol city? have they always lived there or did they travel from another settlement?
Not a fan! He likes to be out and about. But he definitely needed the medical support, and he's curious enough to stick around... at least for a while.
do they trust the council’s leadership? why or why not?
Absolutely not. Xander trusts one leader: Xander.
if they chose their sector and profession, why did they make that choice? if they didn’t, why not? were they happy with their assignment or not?
He did not. He's fine with it, he guesses, because there are worse things than hanging around a bar with plenty of booze and beautiful women! But he sort of resents it because he just sort of resents being told what to do in general.
what’s one object that they always keep on their person?
.
(mutant only section)
what is your character’s ability (or abilities)?
Orc physiology.
are they gen i or gen ii?
Gen I.
what can your character do? what are their strengths?
Mostly he appears as a (large, admittedly) man. But he can just straight up turn into an orc, usually when he's mega angry. He looks like Azog the Defiler in orc form. Some of his abilities follow:
Canine companionship. Dogs and dog adjacent beasts flock to him!
Feral mind. He's angry, and when he really gets mad he loses higher reasoning. This makes him physically stronger though, which is nice for him.
Indomitable lust. This power is sus so I have interpreted this as super-virility, he's been knocking women up left right and centre his whole life. This man NEEDS to wrap it.
Enhanced condition. Xander, in human or orc form, is fast and strong and fast to heal and suchlike.
what can’t they do? what are their weaknesses?
Honestly most of his powers have downsides!
is there anything else you’d like to specify about them?
Even in human form he's 6'8, so you can tell there's something a bit odd going on with him. His ears are also pointy and his teeth are sharp.

I want to formally write up my digital note-taking system as someone with autism and ADHD at some point, complete with screenshots. I've always been trying to reduce it and simplify it but I've accepted that it's always going to be difficult for other people to implement because I'm obsessed with organization and have been refining the system over years.
I've been reading Building a Second Brain by Tiago Forte and have loosely adapted the PARA concept (Projects, Areas, Resource, Archives). I think it's brilliant to make notes more actionable. I want to organize such that it's easier to access notes most useful to me, and less-relevant-and-immediately-actionable notes like resources and finished projects are kept but neatly put away for later use and not cluttering up the space.
Basically, most of my personal and reference notes are in Notion. There I keep a list of things like my goals, my spending, my project planning, and reference materials I've collected over the years related to things like health, career development, recipes, etc.
However, Notion is a clunky experience on mobile. There is also no offline support - well, not proper offline support, anyway. That's because it's fundamentally a web application.
For quick notes I take on the go, reminders, and shopping lists, I use Google Keep. I can't understate how I haven't found a better app for this. Imagine a dynamic sticky notes board that syncs across devices and is easy to add and remove from. I can send notes to myself in the future in less than a minute and it basically runs my life. Every so often, I copy down important notes from Google Keep into Notion. I think basically everyone should use Google Keep, but especially for people with ADHD. Often we think of things in the moment, but they aren't relevant. I always jot down something I remember and send a reminder to myself when I can take action with it.
Finally, as much as I think Notion is great for note-taking, I actually use Obsidian for any deeper knowledge databases. I'm going to experiment and use Obsidian as my main school notes hub when I go back to school. I have a personal Obsidian wiki for programming. Obsidian is essentially offline Notion with less emphasis on databases. The linking between pages and seeing a map of how concepts are related to one another is extremely powerful.
And although I don't use it as often, I really like Notability on my iPad with an Apple Pencil. I use it for making digitized diagrams and as a study tool. The act of writing over typing codifies things in my memory.
I used to use Microsoft OneNote a lot. I miss when it was free. I appreciated how flexible it was. I used a tablet to write directly on the pages. However, I found that I hated formatting in it over time, and I preferred using Markdown as it's more universal. (Even my resume is written in LaTeX. I used to code every assignment in HTML/CSS because I wanted perfect formatting.) Overall, OneNote was clunky and difficult to keep consistently formatted.
On top of my digital system, I have a physical bullet journal and whiteboards. I think having multiple spaces that remind of of my tasks and ideas and to jot them down, and then moving them around helps me remember them. I could streamline the process a bit, but I really don't like compromising physical note-taking. I'm a firm believer in physical and non-cloud backups of information. I don't want to put all of my eggs in one basket and rely on Internet infrastructure. I also want to feel grounded. There are some hybrid digital/physical notebooks I might look into to keep the process simple, but I've been working with this system fine.

Its flexibility, comprehensive feature set, and strong collaboration capabilities make it a valuable resource for individuals and teams looking to streamline their workflows. However, the potential learning curve and performance considerations should be kept in mind. Beyond Quantities: The Emotional Advantages of AI-Powered Numerology
AI-enhanced numerology is a fascinating blend that not only explains the universe's numerical language but also improves mental health and overall well-being. It sits at the nexus of ancient wisdom and contemporary technology. This unusual convergence shows that, as the digital age deepens, numbers can be more than just numbers; they can have deep psychological significance and insights that are enhanced by artificial intelligence.

Numerology has long been used as a tool for comprehending the world and our role in it. Numerology is the study of numbers as bearers of meaning. Numerology has long held that the numbers that correspond to our lives—be they our ages, birthdates, or the numbers of our significant others—carry certain qualities and energies. These interpretations have improved in sophistication and personalization with the introduction of AI technology, creating new opportunities for understanding.
Through the analysis of large datasets, AI-enhanced numerology provides a customized approach by identifying patterns and forecasting trends related to individual experiences. This customized reading turns into a fun method to examine one's identity and mental health while offering support and direction.
Numerology's Benefits for Psychology AI-powered reimagining
Self-knowledge and introspection: The capacity of AI-enhanced numerology to encourage introspection is among its most significant advantages. It invites people to consider their assets and liabilities as well as the paths their lives are following by offering insights into their core numbers, such as life path numbers or heart's desire numbers. These numerological evaluations provide us a new perspective on who we are.
Consolation and Confidence: Numerology frequently discusses "angel number meaning," which are recurring sequences that people encounter on a regular basis and are believed to represent heavenly direction. Knowing the significance of specific numbers, like 1111, which is frequently connected to opportunity and fresh starts, may provide a great deal of comfort and confidence when making decisions or going through uncertain times.
Feeling of Belonging and Connectivity: Understanding how each of our unique number meaning relates to larger cosmic mathematics helps foster a feeling of belonging and a diversity of viewpoints on life. It aids people in realizing that the cosmos itself is always telling a bigger story in which their decisions and deeds play a part.
Enhanced Decision-Making Efficiency: Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platforms forecast future possibilities and problems by analyzing past data linked to particular numerical sequences. Understanding these can lead to improved outcomes in both personal and professional endeavors by enabling people to make better judgments.
Using Technology to Advance One's Own Knowledge
By improving accuracy, artificial intelligence (AI) in numerology not only confirms an ancient tradition but also makes this arcane information more accessible to a wider audience. AI offers a psychological comfort that is both rooted in tradition and enlightened by development by overcoming conventional hurdles to perceiving the deeper meanings attached to the numbers surrounding us.
The intricate relationships between numbers may now be understood by sophisticated computers in ways that were previously unthinkable. These algorithms can process symbolic meanings assigned to particular digit sequences against global databases fast, enabling more meaningful predictions to be made across cultural boundaries.
We learn how to make the numbers count deeply and intimately using AI-enhanced numerology, which serves as a mathematical mirror reflecting our deepest self. It's obvious that the psychological resonance experienced via deciphering life's numerical paths will only grow as we continue to weave technological sophistication into the rich fabric of numerological tradition. This will enhance our comprehension of existence itself and the human experience.

I'm back in school! Kind of
I took a year off to focus on finding and applying to internships + a little mental health break. But I needed to enroll this semester to keep my status as a student, so I am taking only 1 class hehe
I'm taking Principles of Data Management, so I'll be learning data management with relational databases, SQL, queries, data transactions, data security, etc. I'm excited! I've been meaning to learn more abt SQL and databases as I think it would be really helpful in a few of my projects, but it's such a wide topic so it's a bit difficult to cover on your own without guidance.
Since this is my only class right now, I'll be able to really focus on assignments and studying, and hopefully be able to incorporate my learnings into existing or new projects.
cheers to everyone starting the new semester ✩₊˚⸜(˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝

Top Features to Look for in Employee Management Software
In today’s digital era, businesses are increasingly turning to technology to streamline operations and boost workforce productivity. One of the most powerful tools in this regard is Employee Management Software (EMS). Whether you run a small startup or a large enterprise, a comprehensive EMS can help you automate HR processes, improve employee engagement, and enhance overall organizational performance. But with numerous options available in the market, how do you choose the right one?
Here’s a detailed guide highlighting the top features to look for in employee management software to ensure it meets your business needs efficiently.
1. Employee Database Management
At its core, any EMS should serve as a centralized repository for all employee-related information. This includes personal details, employment history, roles, qualifications, certifications, and emergency contacts.
Why it matters: Having a digital and searchable database minimizes paperwork, improves data accuracy, and provides quick access to essential employee information when needed.
2. Time and Attendance Tracking
Automated time-tracking features help monitor employee clock-ins, clock-outs, shift schedules, and attendance patterns.
Key capabilities to consider:
Biometric or RFID integration
Remote check-ins for hybrid/field teams
Overtime and leave tracking
Why it matters: Accurate attendance records reduce manual errors, prevent time theft, and simplify payroll processing.
3. Leave Management System
Handling leave requests manually can lead to miscommunication and operational gaps. An ideal EMS includes a self-service leave management module where employees can apply for leaves and managers can approve them in real time.
Features to look for:
Leave balance tracking
Holiday calendars
Customizable leave policies
Why it matters: It ensures smooth workflows, maintains productivity, and reduces HR workload.
4. Payroll Integration
Seamless payroll processing is critical. A robust EMS should either have built-in payroll functionality or allow easy integration with existing payroll software.
Must-have features:
Automated salary calculations
Tax deductions and compliance support
Payslip generation
Why it matters: Automating payroll minimizes errors, ensures compliance, and boosts employee satisfaction through timely payments.
5. Performance Management
Performance management tools allow managers to set goals, provide feedback, and evaluate employee achievements through structured appraisals.
Key features include:
Goal setting and tracking
360-degree feedback
Custom review cycles
Why it matters: A transparent performance review system encourages growth, increases motivation, and aligns individual goals with business objectives.
6. Employee Self-Service Portal
An intuitive self-service dashboard empowers employees to manage their profiles, download payslips, request leaves, and access HR documents without depending on the HR team.
Why it matters: It reduces administrative overhead, improves transparency, and increases employee engagement by giving staff more control.
7. Task and Project Management
While not a traditional HR function, modern EMS platforms often include or integrate with project management tools. Assigning tasks, setting deadlines, and tracking progress helps managers monitor productivity.
Why it matters: Efficient task tracking improves accountability and team collaboration across departments.
8. Recruitment and Onboarding Module
Hiring and onboarding are crucial stages in the employee lifecycle. Look for EMS with built-in applicant tracking systems (ATS), resume parsing, interview scheduling, and onboarding workflows.
Why it matters: Streamlined recruitment and onboarding enhance candidate experience, speed up the hiring process, and ensure smooth transitions for new hires.
9. Training and Development
Upskilling your workforce is vital in today’s competitive market. EMS should offer learning management features or integrate with LMS platforms for assigning courses, tracking progress, and certifying completion.
Why it matters: Continuous learning opportunities improve employee satisfaction and retention while equipping teams with necessary skills.
10. Reports and Analytics
Data-driven decisions are the future of HR. Ensure the EMS you choose provides detailed reports on attendance, performance, payroll, and more.
Look for features like:
Customizable dashboards
Exportable reports
Predictive analytics
Why it matters: Clear insights help management make informed decisions, identify trends, and address issues proactively.
11. Compliance and Security
Protecting sensitive employee data is non-negotiable. The EMS should support role-based access, data encryption, and regular backups.
Why it matters: Compliance with regulations such as GDPR or local labor laws protects your organization from legal complications and builds employee trust.
12. Mobile Accessibility
In today’s hybrid work culture, mobile access to the EMS is essential. A user-friendly mobile app allows employees to check attendance, apply for leave, or track tasks on the go.
Why it matters: Mobility enhances flexibility, supports remote teams, and keeps everyone connected in real-time.
13. Customization and Scalability
Your business is unique, and so are your workflows. Choose an EMS that can be customized to suit your company’s specific processes and scale as your team grows.
Why it matters: Customizability ensures the software adapts to your needs instead of the other way around, while scalability ensures long-term value.
Conclusion
Choosing the right employee management software is more than just ticking boxes—it’s about finding a solution that enhances HR operations, empowers your workforce, and supports your company’s growth. By focusing on the above features, you can invest in a system that not only saves time and costs but also improves employee satisfaction and organizational efficiency.
Whether you’re upgrading from spreadsheets or switching platforms, take the time to evaluate different EMS solutions, ask for demos, and involve your HR team in the decision-making process. The right software can transform the way you manage your people—and that can make all the difference.
